Social Outreach

Listed below are stewardship activities related to SOCIAL OUTREACH. If you are interested in learning more about any of these activities, please contact the Parish Office, 777-4221.

Bingo at the Villa

This is a great way for families to share the values of stewardship together! Volunteers call Bingo at the Villa Maria Care Home from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday nights. The rotation of families requires a commitment of only 3 or 4 times per year. This is an excellent opportunity for your children to experience the joy of giving to others. Singles and couples also welcome!

Emergency Assistance

This parish organization serves the needs of the poor by distributing food, gas vouchers, utility assistance, and/or other essential necessities to area residents. This committee works closely with community service organizations, merchants and the Ministerial Alliance in area communities.

Health and Wellness

This committee assists with health and wellness issues in the parish. They also Blood Pressure checks in the Parish Hall the last weekend of each month after all Masses.

The Lord's Diner

The Lord's Diner, located near downtown Wichita, provides a free evening meal to anyone who wants or needs one. Volunteers at the Lord's Diner serve food, bus tables, wash dishes, help patrons, cook/prepare the meal and much more. Our parish puts together a work crew for the second Friday of every other month.

Meal Prep for sick and elderly

Provides for the preparation of meals for the sick and elderly in emergency situations in our parish.

Outreach Projects

Many projects in the parish need volunteers and coordinators. Charities outside the parish often look to our community for volunteers as well. We also need a few adults each year to accompany our high school youth on their annual summer Mission Trip.

Parish Prayer Chain

This ministry give an opportunity to be a part of an organized prayer chain, praying for others and their needs.  Check the bulletin for the names to call if you need to 'activate' the prayer chain for a specific intention or medical need.

Pro-Life

The mission of the ProLife Group is to bring about awareness and education of respect for life from conception to natural death.  This is accomplished in a number of ways and supported by the parish family.  Some events include Baby Bottle Change collection each October to benefit local charities such as Gerard House, Harbor House, and A Better Choice; prayers and rosary at Wichita abortion clinics; rotating Holy Hour of Adoration to pray for an end to abortion; participation in the community Life Chain; and presentation of a baby gift basket to each family    of the parish as their child is baptized into our community of faith.

Visiting at Villa Maria or Maria Court

Visit with residents of Villa Maria Care Home and/or Maria Court Assisted Living Facility, both in Mulvane. Help with such tasks as letter writing, reading, sitting with the sick, Scripture study, etc. Volunteer as often or as little as you want.

Welcoming Committee

This committee strives to make our new families feel welcomed in our parish by visiting homes of new parishioners and sharing information with them about our parish.
